The HPV vaccine has the ability to eradicate cervical cancer, but many people are making it to adulthood without completing the recommended vaccine series. A focus of public health efforts has been to vaccinate these patients when they interface with the healthcare system. We recognize the abortion visit as such a time. Education and a provider recommendation have been proven to increase vaccine uptake. This study utilizes strategic video education in the abortion setting in an effort to increase patients’ HPV knowledge, intention to vaccinate, and HPV vaccine uptake. Additionally, a qualitative assessment with the input from patients and clinical staff will be performed to identify facilitators and barriers to HPV vaccination at the time of abortion.
