Dear SFP fellows and colleagues,

I’m pleased to send you the SFP Research Fund priority setting final report. On behalf of the SFP board of directors and the management team, I want to sincerely thank the topic-area leaders, group participants, and survey respondents for their time and expertise. Their work was instrumental in helping us to identify research priorities for the field of family planning.

One of the most important residual benefits of this priority setting process—aside from the extensive list of research priorities that has emerged—is the excellent feedback from those who participated. We included our fellows and colleagues in the process, and established new relationships with allied experts and advocates who are working each day to make a difference in the lives of women, men, and children.

Since the report itself describes the process and priority setting activities in detail, I will limit my remarks and simply ask that you review the report and contact me with any questions or comments. I will note, though, that the part of the process I found especially interesting was monitoring the work of the topic-area groups and assisting as needed with process modifications. Each topic-area group evolved differently, and it was truly a balance in allowing for creativity while keeping true to the priority setting methodology.

I look forward to your feedback on the report, and I want to thank you in advance for reviewing.

Warm regards,
