Greetings,
I am honored to have the opportunity to represent the Society of Family Planning as the Executive Director, and I look forward to working in partnership with SFP’s board of directors, members, supporters, and colleagues.
SFP was created in order to address an unmet need with respect to research, education, and leadership in the field of reproductive health. The Society has a unique mission—one that resonated with me as I explored this opportunity. With 140 members nationwide, as well as another season of grant awards completed, SFP is poised to begin expanding both our capacity as an organization and our role advancing scholarly activity and leadership in family planning.
I look forward to collaborating with our partners, the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals and Planned Parenthood Federation of America, in Reproductive Health 2008. I especially look forward to meeting SFP members and our honorees, Drs. Van Look and Segal, two important pioneers in our field.
Opening SFP’s new office in Philadelphia has been a hectic but exciting venture. Once our new infrastructure is fully established, I plan to begin visiting the Family Planning Fellowships and raising SFP’s profile with potential fellows and junior fellows.
I am indebted to Pat Anderson and Erin Armstrong for their time and effort in helping orient me to SFP’s functions and culture. I wish them both the best as they move forward with new opportunities.
With warm regards,![]()
