SFP presents two annual awards:
Society of Family Planning Lifetime Achievement Award
In 2005, SFP created the Award for Lifetime Contributions in Family Planning to honor those outstanding individuals whose cumulative research has reached the highest level of importance in the field. Recipients of this award have devoted their scientific and medical careers to the furtherance of women’s reproductive choice and health, and include:
- 2005: David Grimes, MD
- 2006: Leon Speroff, MD
- 2007: Daniel R. Mishell, Jr., MD
- 2008: Sheldon Segal, PhD
- 2009: Jacqui (Jacqueline) Darroch, PhD (award to be presented in September, 2009)
Allan Rosenfield Award for Lifetime Contributions to International Family Planning
SFP created the Allan Rosenfield Award for Lifetime Contributions to International Family Planning in 2007 to pay homage to the exceptional research, authority, and dedication of the award’s namesake, first recipient, and SFP founding Board member, Dr. Allan Rosenfield. This award is given yearly to individuals who have made invaluable contributions to the health of women worldwide:
- 2007: Allan Rosenfield, MD
- 2008: Paul Van Look, MD, PhD
- 2009: J. Joseph Speidel, MD, MPH (award to be presented in September, 2009)
